Meadfoot Beach, Torquay, Devon (South Coast)
A shingle beach nestled below an array of spectacular cliffs
Perfect for families who enjoy a quieter day at the beach. Swimming is safe with care and pedalos and floats are available for hire. There’s also a park area and a cliff path for those wanting a break from the beach.
The beach is an idyllic spot and is safe for swimming with care. It is quieter than other beaches in Torquay due to a steep climb that makes it difficult for prams and disabled access.
Blue Anchor Beach, Nr Minehead, Somerset
The unique rock structure makes this beach interesting for fossils and crystals
The fossil bearing Jurassic limestone on this beach contains an abundance of pink crystals, which are striking in appearance. Access to the beach is good, but the rocky terrain makes walking difficult.
The small sandy cove in the village of Polkerris is very popular during the summer. A curved breakwater protects the water and there’s a pub more or less on the beach for those in need of a bit of refreshment.
