This is a quiet family beach with fairly safe swimming and a ban on motorised craft to maintain to the peace and quiet. It’s part of the Caerhays Castle Estate and the gardens may be visited in the early part of the year.

The west beach is popular with families and has plenty of sand and rock pools to explore. The east beach is popular with surfers and there are also some good walks along the South West Coast Path.

The sand and shingle beach at the fishing port of Porthlevan stretches three miles southeast along the Loe Bar. It’s popular with experienced surfers who brave the waves that break onto a shallow barnacle-encrusted reef.
