Special Places to stay in South West England
Burcott Mill
Wells, Somerset
Genuinely family-friendly, family-run guesthouse at working watermill near Wells
For a truly family-friendly holiday stay at Burcott Mill. This family-run guesthouse is located one mile from Wells, England’s smallest city and 2 miles from the world-famous Wookey Hole Caves. This true cottage industry offers a working watermill producing organic wholemeal flour, on-site pottery (family workshops throughout the year), tearoom serving home-made cakes and cream teas, enclosed adventure playground and lots of friendly animals. Children are encouraged to join in at feeding time.
There are six bedrooms, four of which are family rooms, offering flexible accommodation for larger groups. Two rooms are located on the ground floor, one with disabled access. We offer baby listening & babysitting services. Cots, highchairs, bed guards, toys and games are available. There is a fridge and microwave for guests use. A laundry service is offered. An excellent country pub is directly opposite, ideal for a romantic evening for parents, & just half a mile away is a child-friendly pub.
"Lovely room & fantastic food. Your hospitality is superb & coupled with the activities for the children (playground, feeding animals) makes this a perfect place for family breaks. Thank you." The Golden-Taylor Family, Fife, April 2007.
